The desert is Jack's home. He was content there until a car ran him over. Taking that as a sign that it was time to move on, Jack left the desert, and explored the modern world. Eventually, still feeling empty and dissatisfied, he returned to the desert. There, he met Sifu, who taught him the ways of the Buddha. He was just starting to make some headway when Spooky showed up...

Look out, Lara! Move over, Mulder! It's Spooky Fox! This voluptuous vulpine is utterly obsessed with the paranormal, from UFOs to cryptozoology to crop circles. Her knowledge is encyclopedic, and her daring knows no bounds. Unfortunately, this daring has gotten her in trouble on more than one occasion, and now the nefarious Men in Black are hunting her. Or so she claims.

Max is an alien psychonaut. He has never disclosed what planet he's from, and in fact claims to be from another dimension. Altered states of consciousness and expanded perception are his stock in trade. That and pulling bizarre contraptions out of his wizard's hat. Max and Spooky became friends over the internet, but he had not met her until he and Briar came out west.

A pampered Southern cat with stunning fashion sense, Briar is never far from her cigarette holder. Like her husband, Max, she is also fond of altered states of consciousness, but she's less philosophical and more recreational in her activities. She isn't entirely happy with her move out to the desert, but her sharp wit keeps her, and everyone around her, laughing.

When he isn't throwing back inordinate amounts of alcohol, Sifu is a very wise teacher. Even when he's drunk, he's still wise, he's just rather louder. Jack knows very little about Sifu's past, and the tall ape-man has not been forthcoming. In fact, he doesn't even like people other than Jack to know that he exists.
